PokerStars is Now Licensed in Malta
PokerStars has been granted an online gaming license in the Malta online gambling jurisdiction. The online poker site has now been licensed in seven online gambling jurisdictions, including Malta, the Isle of Man, Italy, Belgium, France, Estonia, and Denmark. PokerStars hopes to be granted an online gambling license in Spain too. Obtaining an online gaming license is an arduous task. It requires significant resources and a willingness to allow detailed scrutiny of company practices and procedures that examine an applicants credentials in important areas like integrity, security and attitudes to responsible gaming, said Eric Hollreiser, the Head of Corporate Communications at PokerStars. He further commented that the online poker company is happy to be put through this scrutiny in order to be granted online poker licenses in the various online gambling jurisdictions in which they wish to offer their well established and popular online poker site. Hollreiser spoke about the benefits to players and the uniqueness of being licensed in so many online gambling jurisdictions, saying: Were happy to submit to this, though, when theres a clear benefit to players, the industry or our company. In particular, as far as our players are concerned, we believe that each new license we obtain underscores the reasons why they should feel comfortable playing with us. We dont know of any company in our industry that has been licensed by as many jurisdictions as PokerStars. The most recent of these online gaming licenses was granted to PokerStars by the Belgian Gaming Commission. The announcement followed soon after the Belgian government declared that they had plans to block any unlicensed online gambling operators in their country. We are delighted that with the great efforts and cooperation of the Gaming Board we have been able to become fully regulated in the Belgium market, said Jean Christophe Choffray. Choffray is the Head of Online Gaming at the parent company of PokerStars, Circus Groupe. Known for his crude, unrelenting, and derogatory poker playing style, he was a breath of fresh air in a poker world filled with donkeys, self-appointed experts, and Euro trash. He was always there to listen and give his opinion. If you needed a freeroll to enter to get your mind off the day, he would find one. And his gambling exploits were always good for a laugh. To honor his memory, Eddies good friend, RudyRudeth, plans on enjoying a game of late night poker. Hopefully hell be watching over me and Ill kick arse but its more likely hell be watching and yelling what the f#$* are you doing you dafty old cow! Ahhh, the memory of Eddie lives on!

Feds Indict Online Poker
by Carson Cashman | April 15, 2011 Federal authorities unsealed an indictment against eleven people today, including the founders of Pokerstars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker. The charges range from bank laundering to wire fraud to violations of the UIGEA. US Attorney Preet Bharara said in a statement that the defendants “concocted an elaborate criminal fraud scheme, alternately tricking some U.S. banks and effectively bribing others to assure the continued flow of billions in illegal gambling profits.” Federal prosecutors are also seeking $3 billion (with a b) in civil money laundering penalties. Prosecutors claim that online poker rooms were deliberately miscoding prohibited online poker transactions as other legal types of transactions, such as jewelry and flower purchases. In addition to the indictments, several domain names were seized as well as an estimated 75 bank accounts associated with the tainted transactions. Prosecutors also allege the defendants established bank accounts under false pretenses with the intention of processing online poker transactions. News of the indictments is spreading fast. Wynn Resorts, who had recently announced a partnership with PokerStars just last month, immediately canceled said arrangement. Poker players are asking questions about their deposits and no one seems to know what’s happening. We’ve reached a new stage in the history of online poker. It’s uncertain how far-reaching this crackdown will be. Also unclear are the ramifications for future regulation of the industry. Is this the dawn of the terminal decline of online poker? History would say no. Prohibition of ubiquitous activities tends to fail (alcohol prohibition, anyone?). Perhaps this latest action by the government is the first step to a legitimate federal regulation of online Texas Hold’em poker. These prosecutions will certainly galvanize the millions of people in the U.S. who are affected by poker prohibition. Perhaps more important is the political environment as we approach the 2012 presidential election. Politicians on the right will have a hard time convincing their libertarian base that the government needs to monitor their banking transactions just as politicians on the left cannot reject the billions in additional revenue online poker regulation could bring. We will continue to follow this story closely as news develops. Copyright 2011 Ace Nine, LLC Legal | Contact Us | Site Map

Some individuals are embarrassed over the fact that theyre gamblers. People gamble for various reasons and some are more addicted than others. Some gamble just for fun, while others do so as a way to forget their problems. There are those who play casually, as well as those who seriously play for money.

Fortunately, not everything about offline or online gambling is bad. There are plenty of benefits that gambling can provide. Not only can it make lucky winners wealthy, it can also provide employment opportunities. Offline gambling can produce casinos, race tracks and bingo halls, none of which can run without employees!

Online casinos and gambling provides money making opportunities as well. Everyday there are more and more online gambling websites popping up. As they become popular and grow, online casino owners can earn a lot of money. The more money they have, the more money they can afford to give out as prizes! There will always be a need for chat hosts, developers, programmers, etc, so there are employment opportunities for these professionals as well, proving once again that gambling is a money maker all around!

Just as long as everyone practises good money management, gambling can be highly entertaining as well. Besides the opportunities to win money, the fun and excitement involved is another benefit of gambling. Self discipline is important, however, and gamblers need to learn how to enjoy themselves without betting more than they can afford.

As long as gambling is done in moderation, it can bring a great deal of entertainment for everyone involved. Responsible gambling is fun gambling, and the more that people realise this, the more entertainment everyone can have! Whether online or offline casinos, casual and serious gamblers alike can have all the fun in the world, just as long as they practise self control.

Across the world
we see an explosion of the game of poker.

Australian Joe Hachem’s big 2005 WSOP win inevitably triggered increased interest in the game Down Under
and lifted the attention of people in the Asia Pacific towards poker. Those in the poker industry in established countries see the vast opportunity for bringing poker competitions to Asia.

Already Asia has
in the 6 months prior to the writing of this article
seen at least 3 new tournaments sprouting around the Asian continent. The most famous of these was the Asian Poker Tour held in Singapore.

The APT is a prelude to Singapore’s 2 new integrated resorts
of which casinos formed the highlight component. The integrated resorts are major commercial and residential property developments introduced by the Singapore Government’s as its latest initiative to drive the Singapore economy and to grow Singapore into a major tourist destination for the region.

But Singapore is not the only destination in Asia with a draw for the poker player’s dollar. Macau has
less than a decade after the liberalisation of its casino restrictions
recently surpassed the dominant Las Vegas as the highest revenue generating gambling destination in the world. Perhaps there are benefits to introducing casinos and poker to the Asian region still enjoying rapid economic growth and populated by some two thirds of the world’s population.

Singapore and Macau in the Asia Pacific are sure to provide many more opportunities to play poker in this region.

All the signs are that poker can be bigger here than it could ever be in Europe and North America. Indeed
with the recent passing of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in the US
several major companies have adopted the policy of completely restricting US citizens from playing in the US. The result is that these companies are actively promoting their poker games to Europe
Australia
and soon
you will find
Asia as well. There are no borders in the internet and any individual sitting in Manchester
Melbourne or Macau can play poker online.

Asia will have its challenges in the development of this industry. Many countries are of conservative values or are still staunch in religions or beliefs and hence that may look poorly upon poker. Of course
the starting perception of poker is as part of gambling and betting and gaming.

However
these are no different from issues once faced by poker players in other continents. Indeed
the perception of poker worldwide is changing. There is argument that poker should be seen more as a sport due to the dominance of skill over the element of chance involved in poker. An increasing number of people do not turn professional to play roulette or other casino games – they turn professional to play poker because there are opportunities to influence the course of game with skill.

In any event
as we see from the many tournaments and casinos sprouting around Asia
those that do not get into the industry (with the right regulations and balance) lose out.

Poker is coming to Asia
and Asia welcomes poker.

–

Relative Hand Strength with Jon Aguiar

Jon FatalError Aguiar has traveled the globe playing in the world’s richest poker tournaments. In the last five years
hes accumulated $1.1 million in winnings in live and online tournaments. Aguiars latest trip was to Monte Carlo for the…

If you are looking for a casino bonus, you need to take some tips on how to find one as well as the different ways that you can use one. There are many casino bonuses available when you are planning to play at an online casino. You should use these bonuses to the best of your advantage as they give you more money to wager with when you are betting at an online casino.

However, you are going to want to do as much research as you can so that you can get the best casino bonus. This means the most amount of money that you can get from the online casino in way of a casino bonus that is deposited into your account. You should look to websites that list the bonuses that are available for the different casinos online as well as how they can be used. Do not just look at the amount of money that you can get, but also look at how you can use the casino bonus as this is very important.

In some cases, you may only be able to use the casino bonus for a special game. If you do not plan on playing that game when you are online gambling, the bonus will not be of any use to you. In order to make the most of the bonus and use it properly, you need to make sure that it is not only giving you extra money for your account, but that you can use it as you see fit when you are gambling. If you are committed to a certain online gambling game, then you want to be certain that the casino bonus fits that game.

In addition, you also want to look at the rules that apply to the casino bonus that you plan on using as well. In some cases, the bonus may only be good for a short period of time. This is often the case when you get a free bonus where you do not have to put forth any money. You need to realize that when you obtain a casino bonus, the money is there for wagering. Although it may be deposited into your account, you cannot just withdraw it without wagering at the casino. The casinos will offer a casino bonus in the hopes that you will enjoy playing at their online casino and continue to do so. The people who make the most out of a casino bonus are those who enjoy the variety of gambling that is offered at these casinos and play often. The more you continue to play, the more you can expect to receive by way of a casino bonus.

Not all of the bonuses are for new players, although a great deal of them are used for that purpose. In many cases, you can find a casino bonus that is for a player who is already on a certain site. Online casinos like to keep their patrons happy by offering them bonuses now and then to keep them playing. You can discover some hidden bonuses when you take a look at sites that list the casino bonus offers that are being offered. If you continue to take a look at these sites, you will see that the bonuses change and that new bonuses are being offered all the time. Therefore, in order to find the best casino bonus, you should continue to visit sites that will list them for you so that you can continue to take advantage of them to play your favorite games while at the same time enjoy your gambling at online casinos.

Each website gambling, and every poker site, offers a kind of bonus, and many times, more than one type. There are poker bonuses, which are geared towards new players, or at least that of new player’s poker specific site. Most of poker, you will find the rewards offered, however, for all stakeholders. Each site of the bonus offer was a little different. Just like any other gimmick, the sites are in competition to get and keep a customer you, so their bonus programs are competitive as well, and it would be worthwhile to look around and do a little comparison.

Sometimes poker bonuses come in the form of free money to play with you in a real game of poker. This is the kind of gift of a new player could receive on his first time to play. Another type of bonus program poker, which is the most common, requires the reader to make a deposit of money, and then to play as many hands before being eligible for that amount, plus a certain percentage of this amount .

The advantages of playing poker live are the entertained feeling, the watchful eyes, the thumping heart and the high rushes of adrenaline.

Unlike the new methods of playing poker which are convenient and enjoyable, live poker still has its supremacy over the other methods. There are many players who can attest the laxity present in games nowadays in casinos and live poker rooms as an enticing one. Most of the casinos that have live poker, offer lenient ways in which card is played. These methods, not only reduce the stress levels, but also add pleasure to the game.

Many people keep the players of live poker on a high regard than the ones who play poker online. Many people are convinced that the online players avail the help of books and information so that their game can be enhanced. However, when it comes to live poker, the players have no help, whatsoever and have to display their skills right in front of an audience and opponents.

However, many people have seen that the traditional poker rooms consists of older people and their presence there may also be attributed to the reality that they don’t have means to access the online poker rooms. The other reason may also be that they are far too old and far too rich for gambling more. So they have fun and relaxation by playing live poker.

Most of the poker players like to play live poker as they are sure that, mistakes cannot be made, and the number of mistakes made is comparatively low in online poker. Online players are even allowed to use software that will aid them in enhancing their game play without the knowledge of those around them. Also, people make mistakes while playing live poker and if the others make more mistakes, then the chance of you winning money are higher.

Also, the main reason for the supremacy of live poker over online poker is that the interactions made are face-to-face. You can see the people against whom you are playing, their strategies, reactions, behavior and their way of handling the money won by them. If these are observed, you can easily predict their moves and that is more advantageous to you. It may help you in winning your game and are advantageous in other ways also when the big picture is considered.

Online poker, unlike live poker, will not give you the luxury of facing your opponent. You just will know their profile name and the money that they have in their account, nothing more. While this is done, you may not even know if the player you were playing against left and someone else with a similar name takes his place.

One other benefit of live poker is that you can socialize with the people around you and can have a lot more fun than you can ever have online. Live poker gives more excitement as it is contagious and when you see people satisfied and happy, you will undoubtedly feel happy for them. Also, in live poker, when people lose, their irritate rants and tirades will be very entertaining and can amuse you, enticing you into live poker more.

Also, you will be a part of the combat and the ardor is something that is awaited by players in live poker. There are many players who have won the game many a time, however, when the climax of the game approaches, their hearts almost beat out of their chests too.

Dashing lights, colorful chips and people displaying various poker faces are all perfect blends of luck, skill and money which entertains the life unusually so. Great graphics and color of the computer cannot hold a candle to all the comfort that is provided by live poker, not to mention the enormous amount of excitement, pleasure and the high adrenaline.

In online poker, there is no doubt that the Texas hold-em poker is still considered the most popular. But it probably would not hold that spot for long, as Omaha hold-em is steadily gaining ground in the poker popularity contest. You’ll find many respectable poker rooms and other live dealer casinos offering the Omaha Poker version.Omaha hold-em, or simply Omaha, is the game of choice of a lot of poker players because it is perceived that the mathematical probabilities that poker nerds look forward to computing are more obvious there. Also, because these probabilities are more apparent, Omaha is said to be more of a game of wits than a game of chance.Another characteristic that makes Omaha distinct from the other kinds of poker games is that in Omaha, it is not always the player with the highest hand who wins the pot. The object of Omaha is to come up with both the highest and the lowest hand. The two players who got the highest and the lowest hand respectively get to split the pot. In some cases, two or more players tie in having the highest and lowest hand, and so they split the pot amongst themselves. Of course it is entirely possible for just the player with the highest hand to get the whole pot to him/herself.There are, however, restrictions as to how a hand of cards can be considered a low hand. First, the highest card in the hand should have a value not bigger than eight. Second, the five cards making up the hand should all be unpaired. In addition, in Omaha, a player makes up his/her hand, be it the highest or the lowest, using exactly two of his/her four hole cards and exactly three of the five community cards. Here is how Omaha is played, step by step:1. The dealer deals out the four hole cards to each player one at a time. Once all the players have their cards, an initial round of betting is made. The person to the left of the dealer makes the small blind and the one to his/her left makes the big blind. The other players can then check the big blind, raise it, or fold.2. After this first betting round is done, the dealer draws out the first three community cards, also called the flop. Another betting round happens, with players raising, checking or folding. Afterwards, the dealer draws the fourth community card, called the turn, which is then followed by another betting round with the subsequent raising, checking or folding. The same happens with the fifth community card, also known as the river.3. The showdown happens among the players who have not folded after the river is placed down. Again, the players use exactly two of the hole cards and exactly three of the community cards. The players with the highest and the lowest hand win the pot and split it among themselves. If there are no hands that qualified for the lowest hand, then the player who got the highest hand gets to have the pot entirely to him/herself.
